I got hired at DG am now awaiting background check. I have a misdemeanor, disordly conduct. Does DG hire people with misdemeanors?

Don't feel bad, I have also been a senior manager for over 25 years and I failed as well for a temporary, part time position in my neighborhood store. NONE OF THE ABOVE, needs to be an alternative answer and I advise against honesty in answering the questions unless of course you are the one who authored the answers. I really think that they must lower the quality of the applicants they have when using this test as a tool to find employees. I also think that any success they find in its use is unrelated to its use and time will prove that out. It seems that those who wrote the assessment and answers have never managed people or they would recognize how foolish those answers are. I would not be surprised if people with actual mangement experience fail the test routinely!

How long does it normally take? Do they ever hire felons? I know they used to but that was years ago. Thanks

I've been looking for a job recently after moving and this has been an interesting thread to read, to say the least! My last job was in a unionized store and we enjoyed good pay (great pay compared to what I'm reading here), reasonable hours, good benefits, even for the part-timers, and job security. Sounds to me like DG workers could really use a union to help them out. If you live in Michigan I would be glad to give you the contact info for my old union.

Filled at application, need to take assesment test.

How do u get an interview or just get to the assessment. The system.let me start the testing, had to get off for a few minutes. Now your system will not allow me to log back into.I have been trying to go to work at your The Colony. Texas store for months. The lady Debbie said they need a person or two. I don't understand why its so hard.Every time go into the store referred back to web site. Please help Rkaystewart325@gmail

Was fired for so called insubordination, and not meeting standards--I am 61 and worked my butt off-- literally --and was told I was what they needed as an employee-- a week earlier was complimented for above and beyond?????????? I did upset--- not intentionally --a customer . I made a mistake-- really no excuse but if the Assistant Manager not been yacking to the customer while checking her out --and telling her ALL about HER accident at work--maybe I wouldn't have been SO distracted This Customer was using an EBT card.--- AND-- What's really EMBARRASING is that only one register takes EBT and when lines get long --IT IS ANNOUNCED THAT REG WILL TAKE YOU AS LONG AS IT IS NOT EBT !!!!!!!! HOW RUDE when you are already feeling discouraged by having to depend on EBT.

It's a discount chain that competes with Family Dollar and the other bargain basement operations. To expect more than minimum amount employee concerns is to expect too much.

what about driving offenses misdemeanors?

I had an interview Monday that seemed to go very well and I'm pretty sure I have the job since an employee sitting in asked the manager what my hours would be. While I was with them the manager sent me the hire packet in an email. The confirmation said they would contact me when all the necessary requirements are completed to schedule my first day. Should I just wait for them to call me or should I check to make sure everything was submitted? and does this for sure mean I have the job?

Every one of them kicked out a reply with "we have decided to pursue other candidates at this time." My guess is the assessment had plenty to do with it, since the last 8 I applied at same time and the replies came at the same time. This is crazy, it's Dollar Store not a Fortune 500 office... smh

Just curious. I just started working there and I want to know if I need to increase my speed (somehow!). How long should it take to completely empty one of those large carts full of dog food, cat food and cat litter take?

They wouldn't send you a hire packet if they weren't planning on hiring you.

MY DAUGHTER WORKS AT DOLLAR GENERAL OUT HERE IN BEAR, AND I HEARD THEY ARE VERY SNEAKY, AND SLICK AND THERE ARE ALOT OF DISCRIMINATION GOING ON THERE, AND HER MANAGER DID NOT GIVE HER WORK FOR 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT. You can not be hired for a year if you fail the test. So you can apply all you want but your application will not appear in a SMs system. Also if you apply online and don't take and pass the assessment your application wont show up on a SMs system either.

So my would-be manager informed me to check the jobs site on the dollar general site for papers to fill out before the background check. Only thing is, there's nothing different in there at all. Nothing under assessments, Candidate Portal, Job Cart, Submission Status. Only thing is, under Submission Status, I can click the location I applied to and both Chrome and Internet Explorer both do a little brief loading animation on the address bar, and that's it. Then I also read I might get the hiring package in my e-mail and see nothing. What am I supposed to do?
